My research interests lie in synthetic biology of microbial systems, with particular emphasis on development of synthetic microbes that perform programmable biological functions for engineering applications. In line with this emphasis, the group's current projects involve reprogramming of microbes for infection treatment, functional probiotic development, and biochemical production.

This entails the development of computational toolbox, novel biological parts and high-throughput molecular biology technologies that will facilitate the rational design and construction of synthetic biological systems.
